School has started (or as I like to call it, the Madness has begun). I started school last Wednesday. I finally got my textbook - thankfully cheaper on eBay than it was at the school bookstore.
On my day off, last Friday, I did some much needed volunteer work, painting a local homeless shelter for a 1/2 day. I'm not a professional painter - but boy did my arms ache after a couple of hours using the roller on a pole.
Hockey season began a few weeks ago - Dylan is a backup goalie but had to start this season goaling the first game with our starter being away for the weekend. I'll post pictures of that later (seen one of my hockey pictures, seen them all - well, not really but I didn't edit those).
My friend Kim threw a Tastefully Simple breakfast - thanks so much for this!!!!
Annually, our city puts on an event called Summer Sunday in the Park. Adam has been on the committee for the three years it's been on. It's just a nice get together that has some activities for the kids and a stage for local performers...took a few photos:
Melody was in the front of a tractor pulled train of refurbed plastic drums made into little cars. She was in the lead car.
A few years ago, when Adam was on his first Summer Sunday committee, he came across The Creature Teachers. We ended up hiring Rick and his crew to do the entertaining at Angelica's birthday party when she turned 5. The Creature Teachers were at Summer Sunday again this year. Dylan decided to be brave enough to hold this snake. I pet the snake - he was cold and scaly, not slimy - just snakey.
On a side note, Dylan is pretty brave when it comes to stuff like this - when Rick came to our house, Dylan insisted on holding the 3 foot crocodile (so did Angelica and Melody). This bravery makes me happy and proud.
This is Godzilla - he's an African Bullfrog. He's huge but not yet fully grown. Rick said that you don't want to get bit by this thing...he's got big teeth...
The photo hunt is over but we get to post ours up until Wednesday - I'm thinking I didn't win and that either my friend Kim or Kristin won...they came pretty close to getting ever picture on the list. We'll have to make it harder next time...I'll post some of those pictures when the contest is officially over.
This week is already shaping up to be busy. Gotta do last minute things for Angel's birthday this weekend. Crossing our fingers for good weather on Saturday night. This year, we are doing Angel's birthday as Backyard Movie Night. I will try to blog before that....when I'm not overseeing homework, finishing a scrapbook that my friend wants, reading Microbiology or working at HarborOne, I'm driving around in the Black Pearl wondering why the radio becomes louder when I am accelerating - for real, as I slow down, the volume on the radio decreases....if anyone out there knows about this - feel free to leave a comment.
More pictures in a bit...
Your car is supposed to do that!!! It's to accomodate for the engine noise. Most of the newer cars have it and some of the older 'full packaged' cars. (Not mine!) There might be a way to stop it but that feature should be in your owners manual. If you can't find it and it annoys you, I can ask patrick how it's changed.

Kim, you are right - I asked about it when I went to the Toyota dealership to pick up my registration and inspection sticker today...it's called ASL and it can be adjusted. of course, now that I know that it can be adjusted, I just left it the way it was all the way home. =)
